We are pleased to confirm yet another consecration of a New Preceptory named Portucal No 7, took place on the afternoon of the 3rd October 2009.
On Saturday 12th April 2008 The Lanzarote Preceptory No. 6 was Consecrated in Lanzarote, Canary Islands by The Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master, Ian Leslie Hutchinson, GCT, and his Consecration Team.
Many Brethren have asked, “What is regularity”. The answer is very simple. Any Great Priory or Grand Encampment of Knight Templars is regular if recognized by another recognized Great Priory or Grand Encampment in the World.
Others recognize the Grand Encampment of Knight Templars of Spain and Iberia in the World.
Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master Ian L. Hutchinson GCT, was a founder member of the Great Priory of Spain in 1993. After receiving agreements, it was decided by London that a number of Preceptories would be formed; existing CBS units would also form the new Great Priory of Spain.
On the 5th January 1994, The M.Em. Grand Master of England Harold Devereux Still, GCT, accompanied by R.E.Kt P.G.Willimas, V.E.Kt Cannon R.Warburton, the Provincial Priors of Kent, Nottinghamshire, Gloucestreshire, Essex, Cambridgshire, along with the Great Marshall V.E.Kt. John Tuckey, Deputy Great Marshal E.Kt. Michael Herbert, Great Organist E.Kt. Paul Clement and Great Guard E.Kt. Raymond Horton consecrated four Preceptories.
On the 8th January 1994, The Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master Harold Devereux Still, GCT, accompanied by Great Officers of England carried out the Inauguration ceremony of the Great Priory of Spain, in the presence of the Grand Masters of Scotland, Germany, New Zealand, France, Belgium, along with many Right Eminent Knights.
Most Eminent Kt. Luis Salat Gusils was Installed as the first Grand Master of the Great Priory of Spain. R.E.Kt, Juan A, Crozet was Installed as the Very High Great Seneschal and R.E.Kt, I.L. Hutchinson was invested as the first Constable and appointed the Great Prior of Malta.
In January 1997 the M.E. Grand Master Luis Salat Gusils passed away. Three months later after being Installed as Grand Master M.E Kt. Juan A. Crozet also passed away. In November 1997, The M.E. Grand Master of England Installed Tomas Sarobe as the third Grand Master of the Great Priory of Spain, R.E.Kt. Ian L. Hutchinson was Installed as the Very High Great Seneschal.
On the 3rd August 2002, R.E.Kt. Ian L. Hutchinson was elected and Installed as the Most.Eminent and Supreme Grand Master of the Great Priory of Spain. The Installing officer was the Most Eminent and Supreme Grand Master of Belgium Pierre Noel.
2003 brought turmoil to the Great Priory, when the Knight Templars of Spain split into three separate units.
In 2006, M.E.Kt. Ian L. Hutchinson decided with the Grand Masters council to change the name to Grand Encampment of Knight Templars of Spain and Iberia, which was duly registered.
The Grand Encampment has not looked back since that change, consecrating a number of new Preceptorys throughout Spain.
